When the blessings are being passed out, what size do you want yours to come in? God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, has left that decision up to you. We all get to choose what measure our blessings come in. Luke 6:38 shows us that the same measure that we use will be used to measure back to us.
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.
Luke 6:38
The best way to understand this is to determine the measure you use. For example, when you go to a meeting that is three days long with two offerings per day, you divide your offering by the six offerings. Then you determine the measure that you start with. If your measure is $10, you would give a total of $60. Make that measure $50 and you would give $300.
Take a look at the $10 giver and you will notice that they receive back in $10 increments. The one using he $50 measure receives their return in $50 increments.
WE GET TO CHOOSE WHAT MEASURE OUR BLESSINGS COME IN.
I have watched, during the offering times, as people give their change and one-dollar bills (learned this from Jesus, Mark 12:41-43; Luke 21:1-3) and they are the ones finding and receiving change and one-
dollar bills.
2 Corinthians 9:6 – But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
The measure that we choose to use is the same one that is measured back to us. If it were up to God, He would have us all give generously. God knows that we reap what we sow. Of course, God wants us to sow bountifully so that we can reap bountifully. God wants us blessed beyond measure, so He encourages us to sow with our biggest measure. The plan is for us to receive and increase our measure so that we can receive more.
So, you decide. It is up to you. Since you would like to receive in bigger measures, give in bigger measures. Save up some of your offering, believe God for extra so that you can increase your measure. It is a whole lot of fun to sow with a $500 or a $1000 measure.
There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
Proverbs 11:24
You decide your measure. Upon thinking through and praying about your measure size, you’ll see that it is time to move yourself up another level.
